Scotland is famous for its rugged landscapes and incredible natural beauty, and its waterfalls are no exception. From towering cascades to hidden gems, here are three photogenic waterfalls that are well worth a visit.

1. Lynn Falls, Dalry

Tucked away near the village of Dalry in North Ayrshire, Lynn Glen is a scenic 2km circular walking trail with the centrepiece being the stunning Lynn Falls. Along the way there’s also a Fairy Trail for kids, comprising of fairy doors and small wooden statues and views of the flowing river for much of the walk. Something to bear in mind is that it can be tricky to get down to this particular spot so take care if the ground is wet underfoot.

2. Plodda Falls, Glen Affric

Glen Affric is one of my favourite places in Scotland and Plodda Falls is a must visit with the camera. It’s a breathtaking 151-foot cascade surrounded by a lush, verdant forest. There’s a viewing platform which allows for top-down shots of the waterfall, while the base of the falls provides an even better vantage point.

3. Arklet Falls, Loch Lomond

The Arklet Falls are located on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond by the Inversnaid Hotel, on the route of the West Highland Way.  Surrounded by dense woodlands, the falls tumble down a steep gorge and into Loch Lomond itself. If you take time to walk over the nearby bridge, you can take photos of the Falls from a few more interesting angles.

An interesting alternative to driving to Inversnaid is to travel by boat from Tarbet pier, on the east shore of Loch Lomond. The waterbus is run by Loch Lomond Cruises and the crossing takes around 30 minutes.
